Realism is a style of tattooing that consists of making the art look, “real.” Realism can vary from a Semi-realistic style- the image looks “real-enough” and not have the many layers of texture and lighting, Photo Realistic- the image is as close to a photo as possible, or Neo-realistic style- which is a little more Illustrative and dynamic that picks and chooses the information within the reference that’s most important. Just like my portraits, I often like to mix the media by adding elements of New School and Traditional to create a more interesting piece of work.
2022 Update: When it comes to the “hyper-realism” or Photorealism, I don’t really do it anymore. If you are interested in the level of detail, please mention it during the consultation. Just FYI, the price does increase because of the level of detail.
